In order to see things as they really are, I ask questions. Most of them I ask to myself but I’m find it  invigorating to ask other people. People are surprising. I try my best to eliminate any preconceived biases I have and talk with each person I meet as a blank slate. I get frustrated when I have deep meaningful conversations with people but I don’t associate with them regularly. Some things they tell me are things that the people closest to them don’t know about. Yes it feels good to be understood by a stranger, but I believe lasting change comes from being understood by someone who interacts with a person daily. I’m trying to find a way to help people understand others. Because let’s face it, the only person you have complete control over is yourself. Seek understanding first, then to be understood.
